Monday, July 14, 2008 11:12 AM MDT

Helena n Today the Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) announced this year’s Follow the Cattle Tour to be held August 20-23. The tour is meant to educate Montana cattle producers and other interested parties about off-ranch aspects of the cattle industry. This year the tour’s focus is on alternative feeds.

The bus will leave from Billings, Mont. and stop at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Fort Collins, Colo., JBS Swift & Company in Greeley, Colo., 5 Rivers Cattle Feeding, LLC in La Salle, Colo., Kaapa Ethanol, LLC in Minden, Neb., Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Neb., T & E Cattle Company in Grand Island, Neb., and Dinklage Feedyard in Proctor, Colo.

The cost for the tour is only $100, which includes travel, meals and lodging for the entire trip, thanks to funding from the Montana Beef Council and the Montana Department of Agriculture’s “Growth Through Ag” program.

For more information or to reserve your spot, please contact Rose at MSGA at (406) 442-3420. Reservations close August 13.
